World Wide Fund for Nature

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF, formerly known as the World Wildlife Fund) was founded in 1961 and is one of the world's leading environmental organisations, active in over 100 countries, including right here in Scotland. The well-known panda logo of WWF originated from a panda named Chi Chi that was transferred from the Beijing Zoo to London Zoo also in 1961.

Although it is a non-political organisation, WWF attempts to influence governments (and business and individuals) to combat such issues as climate change, the destruction of endangered habitats and saving endangered species from extinction. There is also a focus on encouraging communities to improve their livelihoods and the environment, simultaneously.

Dunstane City Hotel recently participated in the WWF's 'Earth Hour' on Saturday 26th March 2011 where we contributed to cutting down energy usage in conjuntion with other businesses across the world by switching off our lights for an hour. All the staff and a few guests joined in too and there are picture available to see on our facebook page!!
